FEELING A LITTLE STRESSED? HOW ABOUT SOME FREE BIBLIOTHERAPY IN BACK BAY!

What if I told you that people who read on a regular basis have higher self-esteem, less depression, lower stress, and better sleep? Would you believe that books can make you happier? Well, you should, because studies demonstrate that this is true. And, how about a pleasant ride or walk down the road or around the bend to pick up a book to read, or to drop off one to share?

A local Back Bay family, book lovers all, has decided to share their affinity for books with friends and neighbors, by creating a Back Bay Books, a free lending library for children and adults on Nanneys Creek Road. “I have always loved reading and devour books,” says Taryn McNutt, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, who finds reading a relaxing counter to her busy practice. “I wanted to share our love of reading to neighbors of all ages and show our boys, six and eight, how fulfilling it is to give to others.”

Built by Taryn’s husband, Bruce, the Back Bay Books’ little library stand holds approximately 25 books. “We stock the library with adult and children’s books as well as Highlight magazines. Something for all ages.” McNutt hopes that more neighbors will visit the library to borrow and donate books. “There is no pressure to donate unless a neighbor would like to. Due to the humidity levels in our area, we have been trying to keep books in plastic zip bags to help them stay in good condition. We ask library users to reuse or bring books in a bag when dropping off.”

Need a book break? Get on your horse, bike, take a walk, or drive down Nanneys Creek Road and stop by the Back Bay Library box. Want to learn more about the benefits of reading? Check this out!
